Honored Tribute to Puerto Rican Community of Hawaii (NPRDP 2024)

This feature honors the 2024 Honored Stateside Community, Hawaii, and the century-long legacy of cultural heritage of the local Puerto Rican communities. Known for being the very first diaspora community, Puerto Ricans migrated to Hawaii in the late 1800s and early 1900s to work in the sugar plantations after Hurricane San Ciriaco devasted Puerto Rico’s countryside.
