"I'm sure they'll be grateful whenever, but I think there's a lot to be said for making it part of your own routine. In my case, I tend to go for a walk, then I have my breakfast and then I will always, always, always feed the birds in my garden. I'm certain that very early in the morning is ideal in the sense that birds like their breakfast - they want to warm up and the food gives them energy to survive the day."

Isabell ‏@limebat (on Twitter) was concerned about the cameraman (Simon's) Health and Safety (rightly so, Isabell) and pleaded with Bill Oddie NOT to back him into one of his ponds. Once Bill had finished having a bit of fun at Simon's expense (!) the real question revealed itself (What time of the day should I feed the birds?) and then Bill lost his microphone. Aww.
