Brewing Beer: Ghetto Style (with $25 worth equipment)
HOW TO MAKE BEER WITH A FEW TOOLS //
Doing beer with real malt with kitchen stuff only. A steam juicer is used for lautering; works excellent! Make your own ghetto beer :-)
BASIC RECIPE, 10 L AMERICAN STYLE PALE ALE
MALT:
2500 gram pale ale malt (pilsner malt works fine as well)
150 gram caramel malt
HOPS: 50-100 gram columbus, centennial, amarillo or whatever hops you like
YEAST: US05 Safeale would do the job
MASHING:
Heat up 5-6 liter water to 76 °C, blend with malt.
We want this mixture of malt and water to hold around 67 °C for 1 Hour. If it is not warm enough add some boiling water if to warm chill down with a little cold water.
LAUTERING:
Extract the worth, should be around 15 L in total
BOILING:
Boil the wort with 10 gram of hops and boil for 45 min
then add 20 gram more and boil for another 15 min.
The add the last hops and take the pot off the heat,
at this step you can use a lot of hops if you wihs as
it will hardly ontribute to the bitterness at all.
FERMENTATION
Ferment idealy at about 18-20 °C for 1-2 weeks.
