NC lawmakers issue demands to Mecklenburg County Sheriff following heated hearing

North Carolina House Republicans are demanding extensive records from Mecklenburg County Sheriff Garry McFadden following a contentious hearing on Charlotte transit safety in which lawmakers accused him of being "combative and resistant to answering" questions.

In a letter filed on Wednesday, the three co-chairs of the House Select Committee on Oversight and Reform requested McFadden provide documents by Feb. 28 related to his communications with federal immigration officials, jail operations, inmate deaths, and travel records.
