Ivory-billed Woodpecker: Proof of Persistence in Florida
Discussion of conclusive evidence for the persistence of the Ivory-billed Woodpecker in Florida. The 2007 video shows several behaviors that don't appear in the 1935 film, including a double knock that is visible and audible, spectacular swooping flights that are consistent with accounts by Audubon and Eckleberry, and takeoffs with deep and rapid wingbeats and loud 'wooden' wing sounds that are consistent with an account by Tanner and similar to the wingbeats of the closely related Imperial Woodpecker.
