LIVE | Palm Springs Fertility Clinic Blast | California Terror Attack Suspect | Guy Edward Bartkus

On 17 May 2025, a car bomb exploded outside the American Reproductive Centers fertility clinic in Palm Springs, California, killing the attacker and injuring four others. The FBI has classified the blast as a domestic terror attack.

The suspect, identified as 25-year-old Guy Edward Bartkus from Twentynine Palms, died in the explosion he orchestrated. Bartkus held extreme anti-natalist views, arguing that bringing life into the world without consent was immoral. Investigators found a 30-minute manifesto audio recording and handwritten notes in which he expressed hatred towards fertility clinics and the concept of procreation. He also attempted to livestream the attack.

Authorities recovered rifles, ammunition and additional explosive material from Bartkus’s vehicle and home, prompting evacuations and controlled detonations. Although the blast caused significant damage to the clinic and surrounding buildings, no patients were inside at the time. All stored embryos were reported safe.

The FBI is actively investigating Bartkus’s online footprint to determine whether he acted alone or was part of a broader extremist network. Officials have urged the public to come forward with any relevant information.
