In 2016, India responded to the Uri attack with surgical strikes. In 2019, Balakot became a turning point when Indian jets hit deep inside Pakistani mainland, outside of Kashmir. But even those actions, bold as they were, left one question unanswered: Would the threshold of tolerance ever change? Has India enforced the rules of deterrence vis a vis Pakistan and Pak sponsored terrorism? With the Pahalgam terror attack and Operation Sindoor, the answer to that question seems to be yes.
