Trainz A New Era - Railfanning the Central Maine & Quebec Railway September 2019

Flashback a year to September of 2019, we are set up in Northern Maine to spend a day on the Central Maine & Quebec Railway. The fan favorite has an incredible roster of locomotives and a very attractive looking paint scheme. With 10 ex-CP SD40-2Fs being the main choice of power for the road, it is no question the railroad draws railfans from near and far. We start off the day at Brownville Junction where we watch a local yard crew build Job 1s train for later in the day while also switching out a couple industries within the yard. For power we are treated to a CMQ painted GP38-3 paired with a leased CBFX GP38-3. The two are put hard to work most of the morning switching cars around the yard. After completing their work, we heard CMQ Job 202 out west a ways so we drove out to snag them before and after switching out a local logging camp. Similar to the yard job, Job 202 featured not one but two CMQ painted GP38-3s and a CEFX GP38-2. Finally at around 2pm, Job 1s crew went on duty and pulled the power off the service tracks. For power, they had both of the railroads leased CEFX AC4400s which wear a stylish CMQ paint scheme similar to the SD40-2Fs, as well as one of the SD40Fs. We watched them assemble their train before proceeding west towards Jackman, ME where they would work the yard and swap crews before heading into Canada. After they left, we caught Job 202 again after coming back from interchange with the NBSR with a healthy cut of cars. Shortly after they put the power away, Job 2 arrived in the yard and we watched them make their pickup before proceeding East to Brownville Junction. For power they had three CMQ SD40-2Fs with the Bangor & Aroostook Heritage unit sandwiched in the middle. A former CORP CEFX GP38-3 was fourth out heading for servicing. We chased Job 2 to a few spots before calling it a day since it was getting dark out. Anyway hope you enjoy the video.
