Azure Cost Governance & Automation – Editing and Publishing the Automation Runbook
In this video, I use the PowerShell editor within Azure Automation to finalize and publish the runbook used for enforcing cost governance.
This step transitions the automation from design to execution readiness.
What’s covered
• Editing the runbook using the built-in PowerShell editor
• Implementing and validating automation logic
• Publishing the runbook to make it executable
• Understanding the draft vs published runbook lifecycle
Why this matters
In enterprise environments, automation follows a controlled lifecycle to reduce risk:
• Changes are made in draft
• Logic is reviewed and validated
• Only published runbooks are allowed to execute
This ensures automation remains:
• Predictable
• Auditable
• Safe to run at scale
This step is critical before scheduling or triggering automation that performs cost-control actions.
📌 This video is part of the Cost Governance & Automation Series, aligned with AZ-104 and real-world Azure administration workflows.
📘 Full lab documentation, scripts, and governance context are available on Substack and GitHub.
YouTube is used strictly as a supporting video repository.
