Almaty, Kazakhstan - City Center

The largest city in Kazakhstan, and former capital during Soviet and post-Soviet rule, Almaty has a population of just over 2 million people. Located near the border with Kyrgyzstan, Almaty has an elevation near 3,000 feet, due to its close proximity to mountain ranges. With a very modern and European feel, several misconceptions get put to rest after strolling the city center on a beautiful Saturday afternoon in October.
