Legally Blind Artist Speaks About Life with Retinitis Pigmentosa

Legally blind artist Paul Castle was invited to speak before AGTC, a company working with gene therapy to treat X-Linked Retinitis Pigmentosa.

Paul is a visually impaired artist & illlustrator from Seattle, Washington. His colorful acrylic paintings and whimsical illustrations depict scenes and characters inspired by storytelling, fantasy, and surrealism.

At age 16, Paul was diagnosed with a genetic condition called Retinitis Pigmentosa. This rare, untreatable disease causes permanent vision loss and eventual blindness.

Today, Paul has approximately 15% of his sight remaining.

“As a visual artist going blind, I hope I can inspire others to pursue their passions in life - no matter the obstacles they face.”

A portion of every art sale is donated directly to the Foundation Fighting Blindness in hopes of one day finding a cure for RP and other degenerative eye diseases.
