Betty's Kentucky-Style Fried Cabbage

Betty demonstrates how to make Kentucky-Style Fried Cabbage. This side dish is tasty and healthy, too.

Kentucky-Style Fried Cabbage

6 slices bacon, fried crisp, pouring off bacon grease, but saving bacon fond in skillet
1 tablespoon butter
1 small head cabbage, chopped
½ cup chopped onion
½ cup chopped green bell pepper
½ cup chopped tomato
salt and pepper, to taste

Add butter to skillet containing bacon fond. Cook cabbage in butter and fond mixture over low to medium heat, stirring often, until cabbage is soft, about 8 minutes. Cut crisp bacon into bite-sized pieces. Add bacon, onion, tomato, and green pepper to the softened cabbage, and cook over low to medium heat, stirring occasionally, until all vegetables are soft, about 8 additional minutes. Sprinkle with salt and pepper to taste. Transfer to a large serving bowl and serve while hot. Enjoy!!! --Betty ♥♥♥
