ACSO - ALPR Alert Leads Deputies to recover a Stolen Vehicle.

On April 18, 2026, at about 2:46 a.m., ACSO deputies were alerted via a FLOCK Safety Automated License Plate Reader (ALPR) alert for a white Honda with a stolen rear license plate. Shortly after, deputies located the vehicle and attempted a traffic stop. The vehicle failed to yield. California Highway Patrol (CHP) air support was overhead and began to follow the vehicle.
Deputies successfully utilized spike strips to deflate all four of the Honda’s tires. The Honda continued westbound onto I-580 at which time deputies engaged in a slow speed vehicle pursuit.
Eventually the driver abandoned the vehicle on the freeway and fled on foot across all lanes of EB I-580. A passenger inside the Honda was detained during a high-risk enforcement stop. With CHP Air assistance, the driver was followed to a nearby off-ramp where he was safely detained by deputies and officer from the CHP Hayward and San Leandro Police Department.
A records check of the VIN confirmed the Honda was reported stolen out of the City of Alameda. Inside the vehicle, deputies located methamphetamine, burglary tools, suspected stolen copper wire, and an additional stolen license plate.
Both occupants of the Honda were arrested and transported to the Santa Rita Jail.
