Metro Mass Residents Appeal for Urgent Action Over Persistent Flooding

Residents of Metro Mass, a locality within the Shai-Osudoku District, are appealing to the District Assembly for urgent intervention to address persistent flooding that continues to affect their community.

According to residents, runoff water from nearby mountainous areas and surrounding communities accumulates in the locality whenever it rains in Dodowa, leaving parts of the area submerged for days. They attributed the recurring problem to the lack of proper drainage systems and poor road networks, which hinder the free flow of water.

Residents lamented that the flooding has disrupted businesses, prevented children from attending school, and made commuting difficult for workers and other community members. During an interview with Dodowa TV, some residents admitted that they had constructed their buildings without obtaining the necessary permits from the District Assembly.

Speaking to Dodowa TV, the Assembly Member for the area, Hon. Williams Osabutey, confirmed that the flooding situation is a serious concern. He disclosed that several letters and appeals have been submitted to the Shai-Osudoku District Assembly seeking intervention, but no significant action has been taken so far.

Hon. Osabutey appealed to residents to remain patient while efforts continue to secure support from the Assembly. He also urged community members and the general public to obtain the appropriate permits before undertaking any building projects.

Residents remain hopeful that the District Assembly will intervene by constructing proper drainage systems and improving the road network to help resolve the recurring flooding challenge.
