►TVR is a British sports car brand used by various Blackpool-based manufacturers since 1947.
►The company manufactures lightweight sports cars with powerful engines and was, at one time, the third-largest specialised sports car manufacturer in the world, offering a diverse range of coupés and convertibles.
►The name TVR derives from the first name of the founder Trevor Wilkinson. TVR produces lightweight sports cars consisting of a tubular steel frame with a Fiberglas body. When driving initially six-cylinder engines from Ford and eight-cylinder engines from Rover were used; from the 1990s, they were increasingly replaced by TVR's own designs.
►Automobile production came to a standstill in the early years of the 21st century after a Russian investor took over the company. The further fate of the traditional sports car manufacturer was uncertain for a few years until the owner shut down operations in July 2012. On September 8th, 2017 the current owner, Les Edgar, introduced a new model.
