In this video we continue our road trip through Italy and this time, we are visiting the beautiful city on the water - Venice. We are visiting Venice Italy in winter months because there are a lot less people comparing to the summer months. We decided to make a Venice winter holiday because we get to see the floating city without crowds. Since we were driving to Venice, we had to leave our car in Mestre, over the bridge and get to Venice by bus. Since parking in Venice Italy is very expensive, we decided to leave the car just outside the city, in Mestre and take the bus for 2 stations.
To start our Venice exploration, we head over to Saint Mark's Square to meet up with our tour guide. To move around the city, you can either walk through the beautiful narrow streets, or you can take a vaporetto which is the main way of transportation. Piazza San Marco is the main area in Venice so our Venice tour guide starts there. The first place we visit in St. Mark's Square Venice is San Marco Basilica. The guide we had in our Venice walking tour shared the beautiful history of the Saint Mark's Basilica and the beautiful gold mosaics that cover the entire interior of the church. Venice St Mark's Basilica is one of the main things to do in Venice Italy. On the Venice sightseeing experience we chose to do, we also got to explore the terrace of the St Mark's Basilica which offers a stunning birds eye view of Piazza San Marco.
Next on our list of places to see in Venice is The Doge's Palace which is also located in St Mark's Square. The Doge's Palace Venice has an interesting history and a beautiful architecture so the site should definitely be part of your Venice sightseeing tour.
After a full day of exploring Venice Italy, we headed over to a local restaurant to taste some tasty Venetian seafood.
Since you can't visit Venice without going on a Venice gondola ride, we decided to take a 30 minutes tour and explore the grand canal and other smaller canals, while seeing the floating city from the water. The gondola ride Venice Italy is one of the things to do in Venice 2021, since the water is clean and has a beautiful blue color.
