Justin Gallegos: Stronger Every Mile

Justin Gallegos made history on October 11, 2018, when he became the first professional runner with cerebral palsy. Now a junior in the University of Oregon School of Journalism and Communication's (UO SOJC) advertising program, Justin overcame all the odds to meet his goals, from winning a state championship to finding a way to go to his dream college to signing a contract with Nike. Journalism professor Ed Madison worked with SOJC alumni Erik Bender '12 and Maya Lazaro '13 of OR Media and Nike to produce this short documentary. In the video, Justin and his father explain why he started running, the fundraising efforts that made it possible for him to attend UO, and his work as a consultant on Nike’s line of shoes for people with mobility issues.
