Hey Everybody, it's Josh here.

I thought I would make a video and post outlining my entire career in IT from 2007 until now
I've done a lot of strange things in my career and kinda just gone wherever the wind has taken me, which has included me moving to Japan and Hawaii at one point, so stay tuned for that!
In this post, I'm going to cover each one of my jobs in detail, including things like how I got the job, salary, job duties, why I quit, as well as my likes and dislikes.

I'll also try to give some career advice at the end for anyone thinking of getting into IT or Security or already working in the field. Hopefully you can learn something from some of my strange decisions and avoid some of my mistakes. Hopefully after reading you'll have a better idea of the different career paths you can take and have a better idea of how to maximize your salary! (if you want to do that).

#1 2007: EdCC Computer Lab Assistant - 10K/yr
How:
So my very first job in IT was In 2007,
At the time, I was going to a community college taking computer science prerequisites because I liked computers and heard I could make "like 50k" as a programmer.
While I was working on homework in the computer lab, I saw assistants helping other students with their computer problems, and I thought to myself, "wow, I could do that!" Plus working where I went to school would be so convenient!"
I didn't actually have any formal experience at the time, but I applied to the job and eventually got hired.
Tasks:
My normal tasks in this position were just helping faculty and students with basic Tier 1 computer issues, resetting passwords, refilling paper, cleaning labs--this kind of thing.
Oddly enough, this was my favorite job in my whole career, if it weren't for the fact I was making 10.50/hr @17 hours per week, I probably would have kept working it forever.

I really enjoyed the simplicity, lack of responsibility, ability to easily help others, freedom to function, ability to study at work, my manager and coworkers, everything was perfect
