SLAP tears in the shoulder are the most common type of torn labrum in the shoulder. SLAP is short for superior labrum, anterior to posterior. It describes the way the tear happened. A SLAP tear is typically related to the bicep muscle because one of its tendons attaches to the part of the labrum that is injured.
