Kowloon Walled City: "And the Walls Came Tumbling Down" (1984)
This documentary / fund raiser film was produced in 1984 by the Hong Kong Salvation Army to raise sponsorship for their educational activities in the infamous Kowloon Walled City. The documentary's producer, director and cameraman Hugh Baddeley was taken ill shortly after filming started. I was a new arrival in Hong Kong, also without an ID card like the subject of this film, and I was asked to step in and complete the filming. The project was filmed in 16mm film, but I do not know if any film prints remain. This videotape copy has survived in a box for 33 years until I just discovered it, and so here it is on youtube depicting a time gone by for the public interest.
