Channel 4 Documentary - Barrymore: The Body in the Pool

Exactly 19 years ago, on 31 March 2001, Stuart Lubbock was found dead in the pool in Michael Barrymore's house. Investigations subsequently determined that he did not drown but instead was raped and murdered. What followed would see the multiple downfalls and comebacks of the latter's career and his vehement denials that he could have done it.

Fast forward to 2020, with none of the witnesses present at the scene that day admitting guilt including Barrymore himself, the case still remains unsolved. With the airing of this documentary, Channel 4 aimed to trigger the memories of any near the crime scene and aid the police in getting fresh information about a nearly two-decade old case.

This documentary is based on a timeline and begins in 1995 with Barrymore's admission of his sexual lifestyle and ends just before Christmas 2019 when he was due to take part in 'Dancing on Ice' but had to pull out due to an injury. It also includes interviews from pathologists who examined Stuart's body, former police officers assigned to the case as well as Stuart's father and widow.
