Nebraska Earthquake Update; Widely Felt Earthquake Strikes, Has Unusual Origin
On March 1st, an unusually large earthquake struck Nebraska, being felt across at least 5 states and up to 9 million people. While this was only a magnitude 4.1 quake, it was large in the context of Nebraska which isn't generally too seismically active. However, upon further investigation, it appears that this earthquake was caused by something unusual; remnants of an ancient towering mountain range which eroded away more than 1 billion years ago.
