How to Make a Collet from a Single Length of Wire!

After a few videos uploaded to the channel that only offer tips and tricks I felt its time to make anther full instructional guide.
I have worked alongside a few top jewellers in my career. All had their own way of doing a 4 claw wire collet. I thought its time for me to design and create my own!
The collet I make is not the easiest way to make one. I did not want to copy anyone elses way of doing things so it was more important that I created my own design and made it the way I felt best. This video is my first attempt.

Wanting to show as clearly as possible every stage of handmaking the collet so I made sure to include actual footage of me doing the work.
I rate the difficulty level as intermediate to make one. A good ability for fine soldering and accurate use of a saw and hand motor are essential to complete one well.

As an incentive to try one if you feel it may be above your comfort zone I made the entire thing using a plumbers blow torch! You don't need any expensive high tech equipment to make jewellery.

With this channel I will share with you the methods and techniques I have learned over the previous 23 years as a professional Jeweller. I specialise in high end bespoke pieces made the old fashioned way by hand.
I wish to document everything I know and make accessible to everyone rare skills and techniques only usually taught in high security jewellers workshops.
