I used an old cardboard box as a base. She pasted over it with Kraft paper on all sides.
She connected the two parts of the box with metal hinges.
On the outside I glued strips of binding cardboard.
I glued on pieces of cardboard and cardboard gears. In the corners I glued imitation screws, which I made using a silicone mold.

I put putty on the surface and left it to dry.
