The Hidden Tree Inside Your Heart

When the muscle tissue and fat are removed, what’s left is called a coronary cast — a detailed network of arteries, veins, and capillaries that once supplied oxygen and nutrients to every part of the heart.

The larger vessels branch into thousands of smaller ones, eventually forming microscopic capillaries that reach nearly every single heart cell. This intricate system is what keeps the heart alive, even though the heart itself is responsible for pumping blood throughout the body.

What makes this so fascinating is that the heart depends entirely on this delicate network to function. Without it, the muscle can’t survive for more than a few minutes.
