Apodora Papuana Python

The Adora Papuana python is one of Papua New Guinea's largest rainforest and savanna snakes. It has a strong, stocky body that can grow to be over 13 feet long. The body is somewhat wider than the head, which is short and blunt. The dorsal scales are brown or grey in hue, with lighter lower flanks and darker higher flanks and upper surface. The bottom of the face, as well as the lips, chin, and throat, are paler. The eyes are medium in size and the pupils are vertical. In certain cases, a dark line behind the eye can be noticed. Adora pythons will often know a forest floor mammal's usual path by scent, then wait in ambush at the right moment to strike its passing meal.
