Yoshitomo Nara – Part 3: No longer just a girl with a knife: Art after Fukushima | Art & Conversatio
This series takes viewers through three different periods in Nara’s career, including his early art practice, questions narratives of “Japanese-ness” at the turn of the century, and the impact of the 2011 Great Tohoku disaster on Nara’s art. Presented by Yeewan Koon, Chair of the Department of Art History at the University of Hong Kong and author of Yoshitomo Nara, a recently published monograph that looks at his work from the last three decades.
This session expands on Nara's continually evolving practice exploring new mediums and developments in his artistic practice.
LACMA's Yoshitomo Nara exhibition catalogue presents the full range of Nara's work, comparing and contrasting his major pieces through his distinctive musical lens.

LACMA's Limited Edition Yoshitomo Nara exhibition catalogue, available at the link below, includes a clamshell case with 14 booklets tracing the full range of Nara’s work, as well as a vinyl LP with original music and covers by American indie rock band Yo La Tengo and songs from the 1960s and 70s selected by the artist.
