Who is the new Ghandi, the new Martin Luther King? Photographer Platon Antoniou argues that inspirational leaders are out there, but they are not household names because neither NGOs nor global media institutions have the resources to tell stories that cut through the white noise of today’s fragmented media environment. He tells the story of the ongoing conflict in the DR Congo through the eyes of one such leader – Dr. Denis Mukwege, whose hospital in Bukavu helps women who have been raped, as well as through the eyes of the multiple other women, men and children whose lives are intertwined with the conflict minerals that have sustained the deadliest conflict since World War II.
