Historic Russel Tug Boat comes to Thunder Bay Ontario

I had posted this on my ATV Channel a few years ago but I never got around to posting it to this channel, so here it is! Very cool old Tug Boat!

Pierre Gagne has bought and trucked the old Manitoba Government Tug Boat Grand Marais to Thunder Bay to restore and use as a private Cruiser on Lake Superior. The Tug was cut into several large pieces for transportation and Gagne wants to weld it back together and restore it. This is the former John I Rankin Tug that worked up on Lake Nipigon for years! She was built in 1957 by Russel Hipwell in Owen Sound, Ontario and shipped in pieces by rail to Lake Nipigon for St. Lawrence Corporation Woodlands. later in 1974 she was trucked to Selkirk, Manitoba for use on Lake Winnipeg by the Manitoba Government. She was then renamed Grand Marais. She is listed as 96 feet in length.
