Should We Let 12-Year-Olds Vote?

Voting age takes on new relevance today as young people across the country are making their voices heard through youth movements surrounding school gun violence, climate change and equal rights. Washington, D.C., is on track to lower the voting age to 16. If we were to start America from scratch, would we let 12-year-olds vote?

Revisiting Minnesota State Representative Phyllis Kahn’s decades-long fight to expand voting rights to young people, host Toussaint Morrison explores who has historically had voting rights in the U.S. and how the overall trend toward greater access may continue into the future. Featuring interviews with Rep. Kahn, Minnesota State Senator Fritz Knaak and students from Parkway Middle School in Saint Paul, Minnesota.
