India emerges as a survivor from COVID battle; Should first-world countries learn? | Converse India

In this episode of Converse India, Rahul Shivshankar discusses India's Corona success story and what lessons it contains for first-world countries. In 2020, India along with other countries was struck by a pandemic following which everything came to a halt. Lockdowns were imposed in India for months and the migrant laborers were the worst affected by the pandemic. While many reports predicted that the death toll in India would beat that of any other country in the world, India emerged as a survivor from the pandemic. Not only this, India became one of the first few countries which worked relentlessly on creating a vaccine and has now successfully completed phase one of the vaccination drive. Apart from the vaccination drive that is being carried on in India, we as a nation have also stepped forward in sending the vaccines to other countries which are in dire need of them.

The key thing is to respond quickly when the COVID cases are low, not when the cases are high, says Yaneer Baryam, American Scientist.
