The Rules and elitism in road cycling: what you should know as a beginner road cyclist
When I started road cycling I noticed how much attention there is on what to wear and how to set up your bike. Even if eventually everyone is free to ride with whatever kit or bike they want, I was curious to understand what is considered acceptable or non acceptable by the cycling community. I also found out the massive influence the Velominati Rules have played on us, maybe this has become quite excessive at times. Anyway I believe every beginner should know how some choices are perceived and then everyone can decide what they prefer to do.
