I have explained 4 situations in which an individual can stay in calorie deficit and still build muscle while losing fat or build muscle while losing weight. Fat loss is not that complicated but in some situations calorie deficit and calorie surplus might not make sense. Definitely we know that in calorie surplus you can gain muscle and in calorie deficit you can lose fat but Body recomp is something which gives you the best of both worlds.
