Building a House: Construction Steps – Basement Drains, Sewage Connections & Concrete Slab Pour

We are building a house, and in this video we are installing the basement drains, connecting our drains to the City’s sewage system, and pouring the concrete basement slab and front porch. This stage is really important to ensure that we have an effective plumbing system and a proper drainage system that excretes waste into the City’s sewers, and it involves several steps.

Once we install the drain pipes and cover them with crushed limestone, we then pour the concrete slab for our basement foundation as well as our front porch. The City then comes in to do a dig and connect our basement drains to the City sewers – they cover it with stone, pour concrete and backfill the hole to complete the connection.

We are continuing the on-site construction process of building our custom home and previously on our new home build we completed the excavation, forming & pouring the concrete foundation walls, waterproofing, back filling, framing the house and installing the roof shingles – make sure to catch those episodes if you want to get up to speed.
