Zolaroid DIY Thermal Printer Photo Booth!

Demo of the Zolaroid Thermal Photo Booth :D

Zolaroid is a program that transforms a webcam and a cheap-o thermal printer into an interactive MIDI-controlled super-pixelated photo booth.

Image processing is done with OpenCV on Python. MIDI input is done with Mido and RTMIDI. During the demo, I use a KORG NanoKontrol 2 USB MIDI multi-controller to setup exposure, contrast, brightness.

I am working on supporting multiple "frames" around the picture instead of just the one shown here, as well as ZPL printers. Right now, all settings are for 4"x6" labels and EPL thermal printer at 203dpi (very very very common stuff :). The printer I used is a Zebra LP2844.

Dithering algorithms supported are Floyd-Steinberg (100% python, SUPER SLOW, takes about 90 seconds to generate on an i3/i5 laptop) or Ordered Dither, which is very fast.

The whole system also work without MIDI and is compatible with Linux. I have run it on a Raspi 3. Takes about 5 minutes to ouput Floyd-Steinberg and less webcams work properly, but it does work :)
