Zoning with Pumps and Valves

Which is better for zone control in hydronic heating systems: a pump or a zone valve? There are many considerations when planning an efficient, cost-effective and service-friendly application. This month, Bob "Hot Rod" Rohr, our training and education manager, and Cody Mack, our talented applications engineer, will showcase a number of system designs that utilize either zone valves, pumps or a combination of both. They will discuss wiring schemes and control concepts that deliver optimal zone control that result in a quality system and a happy customer.

You'll learn:

→ When MUST I zone with zone valves?
→ Pumps versus valves: are there cost and energy consumption differences?
→ Are there flow limitations to zoning with valves?
→ If you’re using ECM pumps, does that change things?
→ How do controls factor into the decision making process?
→ What if I have a multiple temperature heating system?
→ Do zone valves or pumps need exercising?

A familiar and favorite speaker to the webinar series, Hot Rod is sure to delight the audience with his expertise and quick wit. Currently our technical training manager, he travels from sea-to-sea, sharing his 30+ years' of experience as a plumbing, radiant heat and renewable energy contractor. A regular contributor for several industry publications, Hot Rod puts his rubber-to-the-road experiences to pen.
