ADVANCED WATERCOLOR TUTORIAL - A difficult interior scene?
An interior scene can be difficult to paint - lighting coming from different directions, complex objects and shapes, perspective and subtle value changes. This is a fairly advanced watercolor demonstration using the inside of the mill at the Watermill in Posara, Tuscany as the subject.
Got questions? Please type those in as comments, and I will be happy to answer them!
At the start of this video, I show my source photograph for the painting. If you want to keep referring to this during the video, then copy the URL of the video into another browser Tab or Window on your device. Run the video again, but of course pause it at the start where I show the source photo. In Chrome, you can also right-click on the tab and select ‘Duplicate’.

In this demo I will be covering...
1) Choice of Subject. What makes a good watercolor subject. How to simplify the scene.
2) Materials I use such as the paper. I will also cover the paints I use and the palette, plus how I hold the different brushes for different techniques.
3) Doing the outline sketch as the first step.
4) Doing the first wash
5) Going in with the darks to get values working for you
6) Watch out for my debrief at the end
