Range Rover P38 # 066 - EAS Valve Block - Side Mirror - Blower Fan Regulator
Three projects will be attempted today:
- EAS valve block replacement (with new used supposed to be working unit)
- Side mirror stuck / limited movement
- Interior blower fan regulator replacement
Swapping over valve blocks I took one of the 8 mm collets from the original one and put on the new for the intake from the air dryer / filter. Swapped out all the o-rings with new ones except the 4mm and 8mm ones which I brought over from the original one since it's been rebuilt just a few months ago. I also brought over the exhaust silencer and then I had a lot of issues with the "hacked" outlet from the compressor to the air dryer / filter. I couldn't get the 8mm air line to seal to it, so I ended up gutting the adapter and putting in two 8mm o-rings and the collett into the adapter, fitting the air line and the screwing the adapter into the valve block with some plumbing tape. It seems to hold but I'll order up a few adapters to have in case.
STC2764 4mm o-rings (2 needed)
STC2766 6mm o-rings (10 needed)
STC2768 8mm o-rings (4 needed)
The threaded adapter seems to be a 1/4" thread (12.5mm) for 8mm air line. It's fitted with a 14mm wrench.
I did reprogram the EAS heights as it seemed to be a bit high up front at all times. Now it sits more even. Note to do this properly you should measure and/or use distance blocks to get it 100% accurate. Also note that once you mess with the heights your headlights will be off and need adjustment. Since I lowered the front of mine it's no big deal as I won't blind anyone.

BTR6073 Left side mirror with heating
STC4625 Clip frame for side mirror (one each side)
And then for the heating and AC system (HEVAC) I did manage to get a little bit done. Checked the codes, cleared them and checked which ones remains and are "valid".
It seems the control unit reports both side interior fans as having problems (regulation mode, which means controlling the fan speed). However I can hear the left one working fine. Adjusting the fan speed manually works, and also AUTO mode works. Not sure why yet. The right side however does not turn. And this is a fan I swapped with the black one. That fixed the black P38 but then of course left the green P38 with the bad fan.
A couple of months back I bought regulators that I thought would work. Swapped in one, but no go. Also tried the second one without any luck. So I had to button up everything and shop around for a new replacement fan instead.
I know the Citroen Xsara and XM is supposed to use the same fan, so I'll source one of those. Valeo part 698326.
A little note though. I haven't confirmed this but don't use RHD fans in a LHD car. I've seen reports that they rotate the other way and suck air out instead. Again, not confirmed. But keep it in mind.
