Endoscopic Submucosal Dissection, ESD

Director Liu Feng from the Shanghai Tenth People's Hospital used endoscopic submucosal dissection (ESD) to remove a massive plexiform fibromucosal tumor in the esophagus of a 56-year-old male patient. The entire procedure took less than 40 minutes.
Plexiform fibromucosal tumor is an exceptionally rare benign mesenchymal tumor. Conventional treatment involves surgical intervention, but the complete excision using ESD in this case represents the first reported instance internationally.
