Lata Mangeshkar - Aap Ki Nazaron Ne Samaza - Anpadh (1962)

I was able to find an audio track of this song containing natural-sounding (not digitally boosted) instruments to go with the clear dvd version that shows Mala Sinha's alluring facial expressions for one of the most loved gazals composed by Madan Mohan.

According to a fascinating story about how this song was created, Madan Mohan had composed a different song for the particular situation in this film. As the musicians and Lata Mangeshkar were preparing to record the song, the lyricist Raja Mehdi Ali Khan walked in with words of a new song for that situation. While the two were taking the elevator down, Madan Mohan came up with a new melody, which was immediately rehearsed and recorded and became this all-time favorite gazal.

According to yet another interesting story, when the famed composer Naushad heard the songs of Anpadh, he congratulated Madan Mohan and said that he would be willing to trade all of his songs for just two gazals from Anpadh; this song and Hai Isi Me Pyar Ki Aabroo.
