Examples of Servant Leadership

Last week I saw an excellent example of servant leadership. I know you will be excited to try this simple solution and I expect you’ll have a similar remarkable result. I watched an associate’s face transform from a full-on frown to a smiling king with a crown.

During a frontline managers’ meeting, I saw a vice president ask each person the same compound question. I heard, “What are your top 3 priorities this week and how can I help?” Each person answered with their top 3 priorities and what they needed to complete their task. Could it be that easy? I thought I’d try it myself.

I looked at my Toastmasters membership list and identified the two people that had not signed up for Pathways and asked, “What Pathways level are you on and how can I help?” I received immediate answers:

One said, “I haven’t made the time to login to Pathways to get started.” We continued the conversation and within minutes she was logged in to Base Camp and scheduled her Ice Breaker Speech. The other said, “I forgot my password.” Again, within a minute the situation was resolved and he, too, was logged into Base Camp and ready to continue his journey.

Many times, the key to success is being a servant leader and providing a simple prompter to a friend. Try that compound question of, “What Pathways level are you on and how can I help?” then email me about this simple solution and share your remarkable results.
