Here we GGGRROWrow again – Founder’s District welcomes two new clubs: NeoGenomics in Division G and Tox-Cheap in Division C.

NeoGenomics is a cancer diagnostics and pharma services company in Aliso Viejo. Tox-Cheap is the CalEPA (California Environmental Protection Agency) corporate office in Cypress. CalEPA has led California in creating and implementing some of the most progressive environmental policies in America.

Both groups are closed company clubs are filled with many people that need to provide clear and concise information to consumers. If you work for a similar organization, please reach out to your local Toastmasters officer to learn how you can charter a new club.

From forming new clubs to providing outstanding service, leadership, and mentoring to Toastmaster members AND clubs, I am pleased to announce the Spirit of Excellence award has been presented to Kathy Hughes. Congratulations Kathy. May you continue to serve your community and many members follow your fabulous example.

As you look at your calendar and see November, December, and January, you might start to feel a little overwhelmed with all the upcoming events: Thanksgiving, Christmas, Hanukah, New Year’s Eve, New Year’s Day, New Year’s Resolutions and many other activities that you feel compelled to contribute and do your part. You can set your mind at ease and relax by helping your friends, family, and guests feel welcome . . . and the best part it’s remembering to share the little things.

Whether it’s a regular Toastmasters meeting, holiday party, or open house you can make everyone feel like they are coming home.

Start with a smile. It’s part of the meet and greet that you practice at every meeting. Besides, everyone loves to see a smile.

Next is use a name. As you work your way around the room, remember to recognize each regular and new guest by their first name. This helps visitors learn who is in the room, too.

These two little actions help generate a positive atmosphere and promotes comfortable conversations because people are smiling and everyone knows your name. And the best part? It’s completely free. Doesn’t cost you a dime. You can spend your one thin dime on Broadway for meeting snacks, opportunity drawing, or deposit the dime in your bank.

I’m Steve Itzkowitz with the Founder’s District TV News Blitz reminding you that every event is time well spent.
