The Jaguar XJ220 is one of the most legendary supercars ever made. It shocked the world when it debuted at the Birmingham auto show in 1988, and it went on to continue shocking the world with a victory at the Le Mans 24 hour race. During its reign, the Jaguar XJ220 was the fastest road car in the world with a top speed of 217 mph. It was finally bested by the McLaren F1’s scorching 240 mph in 1998. Before that, the Jaguar XJ220 tested its mettle on the Nurburgring, setting a lap record and making it the fastest production car to complete a lap on that infamous circuit at the time.

Despite its prestige, only 271 Jaguar XJ220s were ever produced even though there were over 1000 orders for the supercar after its debut. Part of the reason for this reduction is that the original V12 engine in the concept car was downgraded to a V6 twin turbo in the production model; that resulted in many people cancelling their orders. The other reason is that the financial crash and resulting recession of the 1990s killed interest in expensive supercars. The Jaguar XJ220 was a victim of this crash with some models remaining unsold. Fortunately, there has been a renewed appreciation of this intriguing vehicle and we have two of the most pristine copies available.
