Gears can be manufactured without specialized machines, with the appropriate software, tools, and machining centers. The complete component can be finished in one machine and in one set-up, which shortens production time, improves quality, and reduces handling and logistics costs. With this approach, setup errors deriving from transferring parts from one station to the next can be avoided, eliminating radial run-out errors almost completely.

This clip shows the machining of an internal gear M3.5 made of C45 steel, using a PAMA S.p.A. Speedmat VMT2 5-ax machining center.
