Figure 14.11-14.13 Evidence that U1 snRNA binds to the 5' splice site
This video describes and experiment that showed that the U1 snRNA binds directly to the 5' splice site on the pre-mRNA. It describes the RNase protection assay as well as second site suppressors that restore splicing, confiming an RNA:RNA interaction between the pre-mRNA and U1 snRNA. These are figures 14.11, 14.12 and 14.13 from Molecular Biology edition 5, by Robert Weaver and this video was made for MCDB 427, a molecular biology course at the University of Michigan.
