How to clean up an oil spill –magnetize the oil first | Arden Warner | TEDxNaperville

Environmental problems require solutions that are non-toxic, safe, and efficient. But the technology used to face many of these problems has not improved over time. The technology to contain and clean oil spills, for example, has not seen much in the way of innovation in over 30 years— particularly boom technology.

Natural Science is a company that wants to reverse this trend, bringing disruptive innovation to an industry that sorely needs it. Our aim is to solve environmental problems using solutions that are environmentally safe, that outstrip current solutions in terms of efficiency, that leverage aspects of the problem itself, and that use natural, environmentally safe materials whenever possible.

Arden was born in the West Indies on the island of Barbados. After immigrating to the USA as a teen, he followed his already established interest in science. Arden now has a doctorate, working by day as an Accelerator physicist at Fermi National Accelerator Laboratory and after hours as a tinkerer, attempting to solve problems he finds interesting and for which he thinks the solutions may be simpler to harness on shorter time scales.
