New life after a spinal cord injury (Bulletproof: Pieta)
Pieta Bouma was at the end of a six-month stint volunteering in Ecuador when her family came to visit the village she’d been living in. An accident on one of their first days left Pieta paralysed from her belly button down, and unable to return home to New Zealand for months. Two years on, she’s partway through a university degree, living in a flat with her friends, and seizing every new sporting opportunity that comes her way.
