‘Ridiculous to force virtue signalling’ on Quinton de Kock
NSW One Nation Leader Mark Latham says it is “ridiculous to force virtue signalling” on Quinton de Kock after the South African cricketer refused to take the knee.
Quinton de Kock pulled out of a T20 cricket World Cup game after the South African cricket board determined every member of the team had to take a knee against racism at the start of the match.
“This is a tournament where Afghanistan is a participant,” he told Sky News host Peta Credlin.
“Afghanistan under the Taliban with all its racism and it’s sexism and its prejudices, they're allowed to participate in the World Cup T20 tournament – Quinton de Kock is out because he won’t kneel to Black Lives Matter.”
Mr Latham said instead of making a big deal about taking the knee, the cricketers should be asking why Afghanistan is in the tournament since they will not even allow girls to play the sport.
