GM Muscle Cars Returns with the GTO and Grand Prix for 2004

The fabled Pontiac GTO was trotted out during the 1999 Detroit Auto Show,as a GTO concept car with a heritage-inspired "Coke-bottle" shape, grille, and hood scoop, was introduced to the world. It was only a design experiment and had no engine.

But it was well received by the automotive press so it was revived from 2004 to 2006 model years as a captive import for Pontiac, a left-hand drive version of the Holden Monaro, itself a coupé variant of the Holden Commodore.

Hardcore GTO lovers couldn't wrap their heads around this nuevo muscle car and it was soon shelved.

The Grand Prix faired better but Pontiac was doomed.
