This question is coming up more and more often as the market gets more agressive in Montreal.⁠⠀

Here are my thoughts on the matter.⁠⠀
⁠⠀
- Work with a broker who knows what red flags you need to watch out for (asbestos insulation, crumbling foundations, oil tanks, unstable masonry, collapsed main drains, lead, etc). ⁠⠀
⁠⠀
- An inspection is like an insurance policy, should you need to make a claim in legal warranty for a hidden defect after the sale, you could be deemed to have been negligent if you waive it.⁠⠀
⁠⠀
- If someone wins by offering a lower price but because they did not add the contingency of inspection, it shows the seller has low confidence in the property and his declarations.⁠⠀
⁠⠀
- If the seller provides a recent inspection report by an inspector you would trust, call in the experts they recommend on the report.⁠⠀
⁠⠀
- There are many ways to make your offer competitive. Risky decisions and cutting corners doesn’t have to be one. ⁠⠀
